Pink October

Pink October at The Porter House

Every October, hotels across the MGallery Collection turn pink.

Breast cancer accounts for around 30% of all cancers diagnosed in Australian women, and one in seven will be diagnosed in her lifetime. Roughly a thousand of them will be under forty.

This month, we’re raising funds for Cancer Council and making sure that everyone who stays with us leaves with one piece of information worth having.

In partnership with ghd we are giving away the ultimate luxury Sydney self care escape valued at over $2,000 AUD, entries close 15th October 11:59pm, enter here!

How you can help

Donate at checkout

Add a donation to your bill when you check out. Every dollar goes directly to Cancer Council, and nothing is rounded, retained or administered on the way through.

Collect a Pink Icon at reception

The MGallery Pink Icon was created by French artist Djhor: a circle representing the breast, hands signifying care, and a lotus for health and courage. Pins and icons are available at reception throughout October, with all profits donated.

Our fundraising this October supports Cancer Council. The ghd giveeaway supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation, ghd’s charity partner of more than twenty-one years.

In your room

Small things, placed where you’ll actually notice them.

A digital self-examination guide, accessible from your in-room screen, walking through what to check and what to look for. Pink ribbons on our team throughout the month. And a few quiet touches around the hotel that we hope prompt a conversation, or at least a thought.

Committed to her

MGallery’s commitment to women isn’t seasonal.

It runs year-round as Committed to Her, a brand-wide platform supporting women’s health, education and employment, with partnerships including UN Women’s Generation Equality Forum. MGallery has taken part in Pink October every year since 2018.

October is simply the month we say it out loud.

Two minutes, once a month

Most breast cancers are found by women themselves.

Knowing what feels normal for you is the whole point, because it’s change you’re looking for, not perfection. Look. Feel. Check the whole area, including up toward your collarbone and under your arm. Find the guide HERE.

If something’s different, see your GP. Not next month. This one.
